| Lucilla Blankenberg a.k.a. Mzzz.B
Lucilla has always had a strong desire to tell stories, and film and video has proved to be the most useful tool to do this.
After working in the bank for a year, and hating it, she decided to further her studies, as this seemed a lot easier than working. She studied for three years and obtained a BA Communications. She took a chance and bought her own edit suite and camera, learnt to shoot and edit, and found her feet in the world of production in South Africa.
In 2000, she got a job as a transcriber at Idol Pictures, where she is now a partner and managing director. Over the past six years, she has edited and managed all post-production on 26 part HIV/Aids magazine series for SABC 1, such as Siyayinqoba Beat it!, and the Treatment Literacy Series which accompanies it. She has directed and produced two five part magazine series for the Mindset Health Channel, called Sex, Drugs and HIV and Unelizwi, Health Care Workers Speak. She has also worked as producer / director and editor on many 48 documentaries for the SABC and independently produced films, Such as Casa De La Musica, which won two South African awards, and Through My Eyes : Blanche La Guma, Home is Where the Music Is, A Truly Wonderful Adventure, and many more. She produced a film called, the Devil Breaks My Heart, Ten Years Later, which was part of the SABC / Binger Project Ten course in South Africa in 2003. She is currently working on producing a high impact female boxing series called Jab, and has a few other documentary and drama series projects in development. Lucilla was lucky enough to film the Cuban leg of Jack Lewis's film, Brothers in Arms, which was Idol Pictures latest feature length documentary. She is currently producing another Idol documentary, Atlantis, developing a boxing drama series and kickboxing every afternoon!
